To get baptized at Eagle Creek Church, fill out the short baptism sign-up form online, and the team will walk you through everything from there. Baptism at Eagle Creek is for anyone who has decided to follow Jesus and wants to declare that new faith publicly.
Baptism is a public step of faith where a person who has decided to follow Jesus is briefly lowered into water and raised back up. The picture is simple and powerful: going under the water represents leaving your old life behind, and coming up represents being raised to a new life in Christ (Romans 6:4). Baptism doesn’t save you — trusting Jesus does. Think of it like a wedding ring: the ring doesn’t make you married, it tells everyone you already are. Baptism tells the world Jesus has already changed your life.
Eagle Creek baptizes by immersion (fully under the water) because that’s the example seen throughout Scripture — and because it paints that death-and-resurrection picture so beautifully.
Anyone who has personally decided to follow Jesus. At Eagle Creek, that includes:
- Adults and teens — whether you made that decision last week or decades ago and were never baptized.
- Kids around age 8 and older — Eagle Creek offers a Kids Baptism Class first, a fun session where kids learn what baptism is, who should be baptized, how to know if they’re ready, and how to share their story. Sign up through the Kids Baptism Class form.
This is one of the most common questions. Eagle Creek practices believer’s baptism — baptism that follows a person’s own decision to trust Jesus. If you were baptized as an infant, that was a meaningful act by your parents, but it wasn’t your own choice. Many people who were baptized as babies choose to be baptized again as believers. The team would love to talk it through with you personally — no pressure either way.
Baptisms happen during regular weekend services, every other month, in the main auditorium — so the whole church family gets to celebrate with you. When you fill out the baptism form, the team will let you know the next baptism date.
Here’s the practical rundown:
- What to wear: a dark-colored t-shirt and shorts, plus a pair of sandals.
- What to bring: a change of clothes and a towel (the church provides a towel too).
- Family and friends: not only welcome to come — they’re welcome to stand right at the baptismal tank with you.
- Photos: the church’s photography team will capture the moment, and your family and friends are welcome to take their own photos of your special day.
- In the water: you’ll be asked a couple of simple questions — Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Have you decided to follow Him with your whole heart? — then you’ll be briefly lowered under the water and raised back up, while the whole church celebrates.
Baptism isn’t the finish line — it’s the starting line. Eagle Creek gives every newly baptized adult and student a What’s Next Booklet (kids 11 and under receive a devotional book), and the most common next steps are joining a Community Group or, for teens, EC-YTH on Wednesday nights. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of learning, praying, serving, and growing — and no one at Eagle Creek expects you to do it alone.
