Eagle Creek Church is led by founding pastors Matt and Sheri Harris, who started the church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri in September 2004. More than twenty years later, they still lead Eagle Creek with the same dream they started with: building a life-giving church where people can encounter God and become all He created them to be.
In September 2004, Matt and Sheri Harris started Eagle Creek Church at Legacy Park with a few family and friends. Their dream was a church that connects with people from all walks of life — a place where everyone can be empowered to become all that God created them to be.
Matt grew up in the Kansas City area and has spent over 30 years in ministry leadership across Illinois, California, and Missouri. He provides Eagle Creek’s overall spiritual leadership and vision and leads the teaching ministry. Together, Matt and Sheri are passionate about people — whether through outreach, kids and youth ministry, Community Groups, worship, or practical Bible teaching, they love creating environments where individuals and families flourish.
Family is a huge joy in their lives: four children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, a grandson who has completely stolen their hearts — and a first granddaughter on the way in August 2026.
Eagle Creek uses a shared leadership model. Major church-wide decisions — vision, budget, property, staff compensation — are made by a Board of Deacons, where the Lead Pastor is one member among equals. The church staff leads day-to-day ministry. The full picture is in “What Denomination Is Eagle Creek Church?” — short version: no major decision rests with one individual.
Eagle Creek is one church with one campus, at 125 SE Stuart Rd in Lee’s Summit. Each weekend, around 1,300 people gather across its three worship services (Thursday at 6:30pm, Sunday at 9:00 and 10:30am) — big enough for excellent kids and student ministries, small enough that you won’t get lost in the crowd.
While Eagle Creek currently has one location, the church has a heart for planting churches. In 2023, Eagle Creek helped launch The Avenue Church in Warrensburg, Missouri, under the leadership of Pastors Tyler and Ashley Jordan. What began as an Eagle Creek campus has grown into a healthy, fully independent church. Today the two churches continue to enjoy a close relationship, with Eagle Creek providing encouragement, coaching, and support as needed.
To see spiritual transformation spread throughout Kansas City — one life, one home, and one neighborhood at a time. Eagle Creek exists to help people find God, make a difference, connect in community, and live generously.
