A child dedication at Eagle Creek Church is a short, meaningful moment during a service where parents publicly commit to raising their child to know and follow Jesus, and the church family commits to supporting them. To schedule one, fill out the Child Dedication form and the team will follow up with details.
A dedication is a promise made by parents — not a decision made for the child. Parents dedicate themselves to raising their child in a home that loves God, and the church commits to walking alongside the family. When the child is old enough to make their own decision to follow Jesus, baptism becomes their step to take (see “How Do I Get Baptized at Eagle Creek Church?”).
No, and this is the most common question. Some church traditions baptize infants; Eagle Creek instead practices believer’s baptism — baptism that follows a person’s own decision to trust Jesus, usually around age 8 or older for kids. A dedication is the parallel moment for babies and young children: it celebrates the child, honors the parents’ commitment, and asks God’s blessing — without making a faith decision on the child’s behalf.
Dedications happen during regular services, 3–4 times per year. Parents and their child come forward, the pastor shares what dedication means, prays over the family, and the church celebrates. It’s brief, warm, and one of the sweetest moments in any service.
A few details families love:
- Extended family is absolutely welcome — grandparents, aunts, uncles, all of them.
- Photos and videos are encouraged — capture the moment.
- Your child receives a certificate and a keepsake Bible to mark the day.
